Terra Nova Academy

Safe, high quality education for children in our neighborhood from preschool to 7th grade.

Fulfilling a need.

Terra Nova Academy provides a safe, creative place for children in Kampala, Uganda to grow and learn in life and faith. We currently teach 250 students in eight classes, preschool through seventh grade.

Uganda lacks a functioning public education system while being home to one of the world's youngest and fastest growing populations.

In 1997, Uganda implemented a program called UPE (Universal Public Education) to offer free primary public education for all children. The program did not fund adequate staffing, teacher training, or school construction. Schools that did open have classrooms filled with 75 - 100 students and few supplies.

The children of Uganda deserve a great education. For them to live free of absolute poverty they need space to grow physically, spiritually, and intellectually. Terra Nova Preschool was launched in 2013 with two classes and 32 preschoolers. Today we operate a school from preschool through 7th grade with 250 students.

At Terra Nova Academy, our students receive healthy meals each day. Art, music, STEM, and PE are a regular part of our curriculum. We limit our classes to 25 students so they can all get the attention they need. We keep them safe. We love them. We give them space to grow.
