Terra Nova Uganda was born and raised by the love of Ugandans and Americans who believe that all of God's children are beloved. We all need to find our path in life. We need one another. We need dreams. We need cheerleaders. Terra Nova is an organic effort to walk alongside the people of Bunga, carving out opportunities for individuals, families, and an entire community to dream and reach and achieve. Like our team, donors, and families, our co-founders Abdul and Alisha are quite the unlikely match. The two met in 2008 while working for a community activity center for children. Combining their passion for community development and honoring God in the world, this Ugandan and American joined hands and hearts. In 2011, they married and began a soccer academy and school where emotional safety, integrity, and leadership development could thrive. Terra Nova Uganda is now a 501c3 partially funding a preschool, elementary school (1st grade-7th grade), soccer academy, and amateur soccer club. Our team is 30 strong, and we're most excited to see our neighbors live into the reality that they are deeply loved by God and can live a full life of learning and loving!
Terra Nova Football Academy opened in 2011 with approximately 40 student athletes. Terra Nova Preschool was launched in 2013 with two classes and 32 preschoolers. Today we operate a school from preschool through 7th grade with 250 students. The Football Academy has also grown into an amateur club with more than 40 young adult athletes. We've seen eight players sign professional contracts, three players with playing time on Uganda's national team, and one has gone on to attend Cincinnati University in the states.
