Football At Terra Nova

Picture
  • Children love to play it during recess and P.E.
  • Offering football to kids in our neighborhood who aren't Terra Nova students allows us to build a larger community & support with our neighbors.
  • Football scholarships are one of the few ways poor Ugandan families can send their children to private schools. Good coaching from Terra Nova increases the chances a child will earn one of those scholarships.
  • Coaching that focuses on the disciplines necessary for success prepares children for the classroom and success off the pitch.

Terra Nova Football Academy

Picture
The Terra Nova Football Academy began in 2010, teaching children in the Bunga neighborhood of Kampala, Uganda between five and 18 years old how to play soccer.

Since the start, TNFA has taught more than 300 children, between 30 and 40 of whom are still connected to the program.

This past holiday session the academy had 56 participants, the largest season so far.

All of the academy players are taught by Coach Abdul and his two junior coaches.

More than 60 youth have earned soccer scholarships to private schools in Kampala.

Terra Nova Football Club

Terra Nova FC started in 2015, in the fifth division of Uganda's club football league. The Lightning finished the season ranked #1 and was promoted to the fourth division where we are competing today.

Our Most Important Accomplishments
  • Players have taken Abdul's training and applied it their lives off the pitch: starting their own businesses, careers, and continuing their education.
  • Five players have earned scholarships and roster spots to The International University of East Africa.
  • Abubakar "Barak" Kasule, one of the team captains, was recruited to Uganda's Junior National Football Team. Within a month he had been promoted to the National Team. He is now playing for the University of Cincinnati.
  • Eric Ssenjobe, another club team captain, has signed with KCCA Football Club, Uganda's top ranked Premier League team. He earns a steady income playing the game he loves.
